Tree
lined avenues, lush green parks, a modern infrastructure and a friendly,
courteous people steeped in old world hospitality. These are the
first impressions every visitor to Muscat gets.
Amongst
the most progressive and liberal countries in the Gulf region, the
Sultanate of Oman is ruled by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said.
Since coming to power in 1974, His Majesty has made sweeping changes
which have catapulted Oman into the modern world without ever losing
sight of the rich heritage and traditions of the Omani people.
Primarily
an oil-based economy, the new Salalah port in the south of Oman
is poised to exploit the nation's location as an ideal transhipment
point. The Government is also providing a lot of support to the
manufacturing sector and tourism which have seen major growth over
the last few years.
Advertising activity is lead by the banking and finance, automotive
and electronics segments. Oman has three mainline Arabic dailies,
three mainline English dailies and several business and general
interest magazines. Other advertising media include the government
owned television channel, English language FM radio and myriad outdoor
options.
